from above
Lots of texture and tonal changes come while the listener realizes that Lunear have rescued progressive rock with this masterpiece.
The band transports the listener into a microcosm made of art-progressive rock played with taste and substance.
That’s what’s propelling the album’s gambit “In Their Eyes” from miracle to miracle without burdening the listener, or musicians themselves, with notions of style, as it’s turns of tunes that dictate the flow of raptures on offer. [...]Un chef d’oeuvre of an album.
So it ain't no punk album, but rather a highly melodic progressive album.
The French from 'Lunear' are releasing a magnificent album which has revived in me memories of pioneers of progressive.
In Their Eyes is the epic 25 minutes counting opener that contains all the progrock elements to become a classic for the proggies among us!
With ‘From above’, Lunear have delivered an album that is, for me, an unexpected joy and a highlight in a year that has already delivered some very stellar releases indeed!
The soundtrack to this epic story is very beautifully done.
Lunear's From Above is a chock-full of memorable melodies and well thought through arrangements.
There is a freshness and strength within this album, as the listener understands there is a clear direction even though we have no visibility of the path which is going to be taken.
C'est une musique complexe ET accessible [...].
Gostraks
Each song had a different approach in itself and the executions were always highly thoughtful and elegant. [...] A must for the lovers of 70s, modern, and art rock that dives into the ethereal.
The highlights of this album are the excellent work on the sequences, to have succeeded in extracting all the substance of the chosen titles, to have made them progressive pieces. A covers album resembling a single band album?? Successful bet ! Well done gentlemen !
On Gostraks, all the songs flow into one another, as a concept of sorts, and it works, not only a s departure from the more thematic concepts of previous Lunear offerings, but also as a tip of the hat to artists who have made strong impressions on the minds of this talented trio. Synthbeat gives Gostraks our highest recommendation.
Gostraks: «Not Just A Normal Cover Album».We don’t usually do reviews of cover albums (I think this is our first time in 8 years!). So the honor goes to French band Lunear.
Overall, mostly a solid effort packaged in a beautiful artwork where the production bring thoughts to Alan Parsons Project.
In other words, it can be said that all the songs have been Lunearized to perfection!
Curve.Axis.Symmetry.
Curve.Axis.Symmetry. is an engaging amalgamation of conceptual prog-rock and accessible pop melodies. [...] A stunning piece of work into which, despite its ambitiously spiritual subject matter, it's well worth immersing.
The second record by Lunear is marvelous. It’s majestic in sound and theme, following a popular format in progressive rock [...] This one transcends the first in theme, in an achievement that captures the adventurous spirit of 70s and 80s progressive rock from artists like Yes [...]
In the 60’s, prog was established as a new genre. The idea was that pop should receive an upgrade with more advanced and complex music and with well thought out lyrics. [...] Some of Lunear music is sometimes straightforward like pop-rock meets progressive. But it’s still very progressive.
Musically, it’s immaculate. The basic melodies are quite pop like but the arrangements and the musical nuances are what lift it into the world of proper prog. [...] there’s nothing here you won’t want to hear more than once. An absolute delight.
It all sounds truly elegant and smart pop, with that quality some Brit bands had back in the 80s [...] It’s just sad that this wonderful musical trip is ending so quickly. Time flies, folks, when you’re enjoying the ride!
Lunear is a French pop-rock-progressive band with a very accessible style. Simple elements from pop songs and intricate details of prog-rock unify in one sound which is both distinct and something that deeply resonates in one’s heart. [...] In their second album they went for new ideas both musically and lyrically.
Good concept album mean nothing without songs and thankfully this album has them in spades. [...] the best concept album I’ve heard since Iron Maiden’s ‘Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son’ album and it should be on your radar.
[...] Une indicible envie d'en écouter plus.
Many Miles Away
[...] Top quality sound, fabulous songwriting, sophisticated music yet melodically captivating, a huge variety of songs that keep a unity all through the 50 minutes of the album, well, it doesn’t get better than this! [...]
[...]The tunes on the album range from grand pop rock tunes, to upbeat numbers and poignant ballads, all with catchy pop sensibilities. I find it somewhere between brilliant and a masterpiece, and not to be missed. [...]
[...]Lunear is something original, that´s for sure. [...] hold your horses because it´s a diverse album and takes several spins to get into. [...]
[...]Suffice it to say if you find yourself contemplating the cosmos and all the mysteries of life there is a good chance you will appreciate, possibly love, this album.
"The chords are unusual, yet the melody on top is very simple, making it easy to listen and appreciate [...] It seems the band likes to use this technique of a 4/4 melody with an odd number of bars to create familiarity for both the prog and pop audience.[...]"
